“Don’t make me a role model,” said Denise Valente-McGee when asked what advice she would give to those who look up to her. “Find what you are good at and passionate about and go for it! Don’t listen to anyone who tells you it can’t work. If you know it in your heart, it has been placed there for a reason.”

Denise, 56, owns Synchronicity fitness studio in Mount Pleasant, and she considers this her greatest accomplishment to date. With small class sizes and unique courses, Synchronicity can provide members with far more than the average gym. Instead of focusing only on workouts for the typical fitness enthusiast, she also uses specialized equipment and techniques to assist those with injuries and those with chronic pain.
