Last night I received word over Facebook that Joanne Kloppenburg, my preferred candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, would be making a stop in Racine today. I woke up undecided about attending. It was cold and dreary and I have a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow…so I figured I would just stay home today. But then something smacked me upside the head and I rushed to get dressed and ready and out the door in order to be there by her arrival time.
I am quite happy I made it. She made a quick speech in the bitter wind and after I was able to meet her and ask a question. This isn’t verbatim as I did not record or take notes…but this is pretty accurate to how it went down:
Me: When I have written in support of you, the main thing which seems to stick in craws of Prosser supporters is the GWA ad regarding the molesting priest case. What would you say to these people?
Kloppenburg: I think it is an unfortunate distraction by both sides. These ads are a distraction to what should be the main focus and that is electing a person whom will prove to be unbiased in the court. I think it is sad that both sides (the organizations who make these ads) are using the victims. I cannot tell any organization to stop running an ad as part of their first amendment rights. And everything stated in that ad is actually true. I am also not asking Justice Prosser to denounce the many false ads about me. There are many ads out their which simply are not true, but I am not wasting time fighting against the ads. Again, I think this is a very unfortunate distraction.
After today it is clear more than ever that my vote tomorrow for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice will be for Joanne Kloppenburg and I hope you do the same.Vodpod videos no longer available. Vodpod videos no longer available. Vodpod videos no longer available. Vodpod videos no longer available.
