Dubuque Dubuque…dadadadadada Dubuque Dubuque

So. We desperately need to get away. Politics, relationships, family, jobs…we need OUTTA HERE!! So we finally pressured my mom into watching Cassidy for two days so we can take a weekend out of town. I didn’t want a far drive since we don’t have much time. And Charlie didn’t have any suggestions…so I randomly picked a nice hotel in Dubuque. All we really need is some peace and quite, a hot tub, cable, good food and a comfy bed. However, neither of us have ever been there…so Ihaven’tt made the reservations yet.

Have you ever been to the Dubuque, IA area?? What did you think? Any suggestions or warnings? Any better ideas?? Let me know!! Please 😉

  1. LOL Niner…you are so going to hate me after today!! I keep poo pooing all of your suggestions 🙂

I love LG too. But my parents live like 10 mins from there and we are there SO much in the summer. We plan on taking the boat out on LG as soon as it warms up!!

Keep trying!! This is fun 🙂 Hahaha

    • Haha……You’re a tough one to please. lol

Um……Stay home and rent some movies!!

Or go with you’re original plan of Dubuque. Wait…….one last option. LaCrosse or Eau Claire. A lot of nice bluffs, the Chippewa River, and low key. That’s it though I’m out of options!

    • I know it’s not far, but what about Lake Geneva? Stay at one of the 2 nice resorts there. Quiet, a good amount of things to do, and just a nice little area. You can pretend you’re 4 hours away, but only drive 50 minutes. I personally love LG.

  2. Try downtown Cleveland. Rock n roll hall of fame and alot of top notch restaurants. I was there a few years ago stayed downtown and loved it.

  3. No!! I NEED opinions!! I cannot make a decision. How about Indianapolis? I know it is a little further…but the downtown area looks kinda nice…plus they have a comedy club. On vacations I always try to go to a comedy club. (Is that weird?)

No so much into Notre Dame or sports of any kind…blach. LOL. Madison…no way. I need to get away from any sense of politics whatsoever!!! Chicago is too close. Need more of a feeling of escape 🙂

    Keep em comin’….downers welcome too!!

    • For sure not Gary! It’s the heart of the rust belt. South Bend would be cool becuase you could check out the Notre Dame Campus, but that’s a 4 hour drive. Dang, I sound like a downer. I’d just do Chicago if you’re going to go that far. Maybe Dubuque is the way to go. That pic you posted of the city makes it look decent.

This is what happens when you open up the forum! Too many opinions! You were just in Madison obviously, but I like it there. It’s quick and just a nice area in general. Good time of year too!

  4. Depends on what you want to spend. You could always go to Chicago. Other wise some bed and breakfasts up in the Port Washington area. If the weather is nice those are relaxing. We went in the Fall last year. Real peaceful. They didn’t have cable though. They did have a big movie collection. Never thought I would like a B&B, but I did. Other than that not really sure. Dubuque might be ok. When I went it was with the fellas for a softball tourney so it’s a little foggy in my mind. Plus it was like 10 years ago.

    • Ahhh….I dunno now. Thanks a lot!! LOL 🙂 B&Bs always seem so girly and froo froo for me. I do like Chicago…but when its warmer. Oh phooey. I will think of something. Thanks Mr. Niner 🙂

  5. Dubuque is nothing special! They have riverboat casinos and run down business because the business owners went broke, maybe at the casinos!

If you are just going to chill in your room that’s cool, but Dubuque is nothing to get real pumped about. Not trying to bring you down, but it’s just a good gambling getaway.

  6. It is just too far of a drive. We only have 2 days and I don’t want to spend most of it in a car. I am sure we will go up north this summer though 🙂

Is there much to do in Dubuque? Did you stay in a hotel you liked??

Thank you for the response BTW!!
