Cults and new religious movements in literatur...

I am floored. I don’t know why, really, considering the low level bullying that goes on these days whenever someone thinks differently from another. I just cannot believe this practice, these ideas, such hate is being so tolerated and even shared among Americans.

I have met some Catholics in my life which have made me question their religion. In fact, MOST of the Catholics I have met are/were the biggest hypocrites I have ever known. They (when I say THEY I am referring to the particular Catholics I have known…not ALL!!) preach one thing and do the complete opposite. They claim to be a loving “Christian” while pushing others down. They judge others for their lifestyles when, in fact, they have their own seedy skeletons. So how about I send out a nice little Evite to my Bible Burning Ceremony? Doesn’t that sound fun and oh so patriotic?? Needless to say, I would never do or support such a hateful activity.

This is fucking AMERICA, people. If you for even a second think it is acceptable to single out a group of people for segregation and harassment simply because they believe in a different “religion” then you, my friend, are no American. And even more…you are barely human.

  1. Nobody should be burning ANYTHING. No bibles, no Qurans, nothin’. People have the right to practice their religion. We said that a long time ago, right? And he said it was because there were ‘lies’ in it. SO WHAT? Im sure some people can find a few lies in the bible and in the Catholic religion. Thats no reason to hold a ‘public burning’. And he’s lyin’ anyway…

This man is making a stand in re to the Mosque and 9/11, but doing it in a stupid reckless and thoughtless way. This man is about to get our boys fired on overseas and God know what type of retaliation this might bring on here in the U.S.

Somebody better get this crazy a$$ fool!!

This is one racist being able to really bring his” show” to the grand scale and spread his filth and hatred. How I dont know; this IS America and racism and klanish behavior is ‘supposedly’ a thing of the past. He shouldnt be able to even do this…

To the guy who felt the need to ‘technically’ define the word ‘racist’: If you want to be technical we can call the guy a bigot then-“a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or RACE.”

As you can see the kinda mesh into each other. Always have, to me. I’m jus’ sayin’-there are bigger points to make here.

  2. BTW – Jeff and Anonymous @ 9:50 and 10:16 are the same person. Don’t want anyone to think I’m running from my previous comments.

  3. I agree with pretty much all of what you are saying. Well, up until you claimed I was willy nilly about using the term racist. And I do know the meaning. I still believe many of the people who support this behavior do so because of their racisim. Many of them know nothing of the religion – any other than their own for that matter – so I do not believe it is only a relgious bias but also a racial one. But I can see where I did not make that clear. Basically what I mean is that people need to stop thinking that THEIR way is the ONLY way and all others who disagree or believe differently are damned (or deserve to be) in one way or another.

    1. Basically what I mean is that people need to stop thinking that THEIR way is the ONLY way and all others who disagree or believe differently are damned (or deserve to be) in one way or another.

Therein lies the problem. If you are a “true believer” in your religion, then you not only THINK your way is the only way…you KNOW your way is the only way. The Bible says in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.'” I believe that with all of my heart – the same way I’m sure that a Muslim believes that Allah is the only god and Mohommad is his prophet. The big difference lies in what we do with that belief/knowledge.

I would no sooner kill a person for saying that Allah is god than I would for stepping on my toe. I would feel sorry for the person…I would pray for that person that God would open their eyes and show them the truth…I would attepmt to share my faith with them…but I would not kill them.

Now you may ask me why I would try to share my faith with them? Simple…because I believe what the Bible says – that they ARE damned to eternity in Hell if they don’t accept Jesus Christ as their Savior – and I don’t want anyone to have to face those eternal consequiences. Why? Becuase I deserve that damnation just as much as they do. I’m a sinner, just as they are. I’m no better or worse than Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, or Mahmoud Achmadinizad. The Bible says in James 2:10 that “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” In other words, sin is sin in God’s eyes. If I’m guilty of telling a lie, I might just as well be guilty of murder in His eyes. I’m no better than anyone else who has ever sinned.

At the end of the day, I’m simply a sinner, saved and forgiven by the grace of God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. And I’d like to see everyone find that same forgiveness. But it’s the other person’s decision…I can’t make it for them, nor would I ever attempt to force them to make that decision. Therein (I believe) lies the problem – not every religion (or even every person who claims to be a Christian) believes that simple truth…that the most we can do is share our faith and pray for the person. The ultimate decision is up to them.

  4. Yes, but I would prefer someone burn the Bible than for what happens to people in an Islamic nation if they’re even caught with a Bible. I don’t know the answer, but someone needs to drag the Islamic radicals kicking and screaming out of the 13th century.

    1. Someone made a similar point on another blog and I will paste my response below…I am not directing it towards you…it was just a similar statement (they said if they can burn the flags, we should be able to burn their quran…in a nutshell):

Oh please. “Well THEY do it Mommmmyyyyy…why can’t IIII???” (whine). Grow up. Because radical Muslim terrorists (not real Muslims who just happen to follow that particular religion) do something retarded, we all should?? What kind of child-like horse$hit is that?? They burn our flags. They are a-hole freaks. Why on earth would you want to be like them? I would think, as proud Americans, we would want to ALWAYS take the higher road. Know the difference between right and wrong instead of worrying about what is fair in some stupid game which doesn’t even need to be played.

And as if it really needs to be said (but apparently some STILL do not have it thru their thick racist skulls) – the Muslim religion…the average Muslim citizen…did NOTHING to us on 9/11. Those were wacked out terrorists. And terrorists can come in the form of ANY religion, ANY background, ANY nationality. This egocentric buLL$HIT needs to stop because it makes many of you look like fools.

      1. By no means was my post meant in any way to defend buring of the Koran, the Bible, or any other religious book or symbol. What I was merely attempting to point out is that people are getting their panties in a bunch because a group of idiots want to make a statement by burning the Koran when there are far worse things being done today in the name of religion.

Unfortunately, it goes far beyond someone being tortured for carrying a Bible in an Islamic country. What about the poor Iranian woman who was lashed 99 times because the Times of London ran a photo captioned as being her in which the woman’s har was showing. After the lashing, it was determined that the Times had run the wrong photo – IT WASN’T EVEN HER! And she still faces stoning for her crime of “adultry” – the act of which was committed AFTER her husband had already died.

Before we make headline news about and start protest groups against a bunch of idiots burning a Koran, maybe we should start demanding the mainstream practitioners of the “religion of peace” take their religion back from these radical a-holes. As I said, I don’t know what the answer is – just that something needs to be done to drag these people into the 21st century.

Oh, and by the way, before you go throwing the word “racist” around, remember what a racist is. That is someone who discriminates against or has a prejudice against someone of a particular race – not on the basis of their religion. It cheapens the word and the struggle for racial equality when people throw it around whilly-nilly.

  5. Unfortunately, that is what makes them human. No person, as perfect as they pretend to be, is perfect. It IS what makes us human.

    1. Perfection doesn’t exist. And by no means do I expect or even want that. But I feel to be so hateful, mean and cause harm to others…those people do not deserve the title ‘Human’. JMHO, of course.
